Considerado uno de los pintores m\u00e1s  importante de los Estados Unidos en el siglo XX Naci\u00f3 en Cody, Wyoming (Estados  Unidos), y posteriormente, en 1929, se mud\u00f3 a Nueva York, donde estudi\u00f3 con el  pintor Thomas Hart Benton. Pollock se distanci\u00f3 del arte figurativo y desarroll\u00f3  t\u00e9cnicas como el splashing o el dripping, consistentes en lanzar pintura al  lienzo o dejarla gotear encima de este (action painting), sin utilizar dibujos  ni bocetos.
