Phosphatidylcholine (PPC) and sodium deoxycholate (DC) injections have been used cosmetically to reduce localized fat, but to date, few studies have addressed the histological effect of human fat tissue following injections of PPC and DC. We injected PPC and DC mixed with normal saline into the patient’s abdominal area. Examinations of postinjection tissue revealed marked changes within the subcutaneous fat. We observed important microscopic evidence of substitution of fat by fibrosis, marked inflammatory infiltration with microabscess formation in the dermis, and septal and lobular panniculitis with thick fibrous septa. Fat necrosis with microcalcification and cyst formation were observed in the subcutaneous fat. Fibroid necrosis with extravasation was noted in the small vessels around fat necrosis. Therefore, careful use of PPC and DC is recommended when patients want to cosmetically reduce localized fat.<\/p>\n

Inyecciones de fosfatidilcolina (PPC) y desoxicolato de sodio (DC) se han utilizado cosm\u00e9ticamente para reducci\u00f3n de grasa localizada, pero hasta la fecha, pochay pocos estudios que hayan abordado el efecto histol\u00f3gico del tejido graso humano despu\u00e9s de inyecciones de PPC y DC. Inyectamos PPC y DC mezclado con soluci\u00f3n salina normal en la zona abdominal del paciente. Los examenes del tejido revelaron cambios marcados en la grasa subcut\u00e1nea. Observamos importante evidencia microsc\u00f3pica de la sustituci\u00f3n de grasa por fibrosis, marcada infiltraci\u00f3n inflamatoria con formaci\u00f3n de microabscesos en el dermis y paniculitis septal y lobulada con los septos fibrosos gruesos. Necrosis grasa con la formaci\u00f3n del quiste y microcalcificaci\u00f3n fueron observados en la grasa subcut\u00e1nea. Necrosis con extravasaci\u00f3n fue observada en los vasos peque\u00f1os alrededor de la necrosis grasa.
