PUNJAB.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A 6 month old male child presented with an umbilical mass since birth. <br \/>\n It had appeared on 8th day, 2 days after the umbilical stump has fallen off.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There was no history of serous or blood stained discharge from the mass. <\/li>\n<li>There were no constitutional signs and symptoms. <\/li>\n<li>The skin around the umbilicus was normal. <\/li>\n<li>The axillary and inguinal lymph nodes were not enlarged.<\/li>\n<li>On examination the baby was haemodynamically stable. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A\u00c2\u00a0 red polypoidal mass of 2x 2 cm in size was found in the umbilicus (<em>Fig 1 and Fig 2<\/em>).<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 300px;\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"2\" cellpadding=\"2\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><a href=\"http:\/\/dermatologiapediatrica.net\/portal\/images\/stories\/casos\/87\/fig_1_-_a_six_month_old_infant_with_umbilical_adenoma2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"thumb_fig_1_-_a_six_month_old_infant_with_umbilical_adenoma2\" src=\"http:\/\/dermatologiapediatrica.net\/portal\/images\/stories\/casos\/87\/thumbnails\/thumb_fig_1_-_a_six_month_old_infant_with_umbilical_adenoma2.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumb_fig_1_-_a_six_month_old_infant_with_umbilical_adenoma2\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" width=\"150\" height=\"113\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<td><a href=\"http:\/\/dermatologiapediatrica.net\/portal\/images\/stories\/casos\/87\/fig_2_-_figure_showing_red_polypoidal_mass_present_in_the_umbilicus.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"thumb_fig_2_-_figure_showing_red_polypoidal_mass_present_in_the_umbilicus\" src=\"http:\/\/dermatologiapediatrica.net\/portal\/images\/stories\/casos\/87\/thumbnails\/thumb_fig_2_-_figure_showing_red_polypoidal_mass_present_in_the_umbilicus.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumb_fig_2_-_figure_showing_red_polypoidal_mass_present_in_the_umbilicus\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" width=\"150\" height=\"113\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>The tumour was firm and non tender with a nodular and glistening surface and no ulceration was seen.. <br \/>\n An umbilical adenoma was diagnosed. General and systemic examination did not reveal any abnormality.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dermatologiapediatrica.net\/portal\/images\/stories\/casos\/87\/fig_3_-_saline_soaked_polypoidal_mass_showing_the_peduncle.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"thumb_fig_3_-_saline_soaked_polypoidal_mass_showing_the_peduncle\" src=\"http:\/\/dermatologiapediatrica.net\/portal\/images\/stories\/casos\/87\/thumbnails\/thumb_fig_3_-_saline_soaked_polypoidal_mass_showing_the_peduncle.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumb_fig_3_-_saline_soaked_polypoidal_mass_showing_the_peduncle\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" width=\"150\" height=\"113\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The swelling was covered with a normal saline ( Fig 3) and\u00c2\u00a0 povidone iodine soaked gauze while preparations were done for surgery next morning. Haemogram and\u00c2\u00a0 renal function tests were normal.
