• D – positive evidence of risk
• X – contraindicated in
  pregnancy

• retrospective study of 152,531 women who delivered
  infants in 1996-2000
• 64% were prescribed a medication other than vitamin
  or mineral supplement during pregnancy
• almost 40% received category C drugs while pregnant,
  1.9% received category D drugs, 0.1% received category X drugs
